Instructions
- In a stand mixer bowl, combine warmed milk, instant yeast, and sugar. Add flour, sourdough discard, beaten egg, chopped herbs, salt, and garlic powder. Mix on low speed and slowly incorporate melted butter until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 3-4 minutes until smooth and slightly tacky.
- Place in a greased bowl covered with plastic wrap and let rise for 60-90 minutes until doubled in size.
- Prepare the topping mixture by combining softened butter with herbs, garlic powder, and salt; reserve some for later.
- Divide and flatten the dough into circles; spread with topping mixture before folding and placing in a greased loaf pan.
- Allow to rise again for 30-45 minutes until puffed. Preheat oven to 350℉.
