  • ½ cup sour cream (room temperature)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for streusel topping)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for streusel topping)
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (for streusel topping)
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for icing)
  • 1/8 teaspoon sea salt (for icing)
  • 23 tablespoons heavy cream (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a muffin pan with liners.
  2. Prepare the streusel topping by mixing brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and cubed butter until crumbly.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together dry ingredients: flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, mix wet ingredients: melted butter, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, eggs, sour cream, and milk until smooth.
  5. Gently fold the wet mixture into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fill muffin liners two-thirds full with batter and top with streusel.
  7. Bake for 18 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool slightly before serving.
